Schreckenweiss & #LennonsBirthdayBash

This weekend was the inaugural #LennonBirthdayBash, our attempt to spend more time with the Lennon now that’s she’s old enough to wipe her own butt 🤣.  We headed to Moorhead friday in the “HUGE SNOW STORM” where we saw .02 inches of snow the whole drive... the drive also consisted of a video of Lennon bawling because she wanted to see us NOW. Not in 3.5 hours...😳. Then a Facetime 2 hours later asking if we were there yet....

Once finally in Moorhead, we picked up Kendra, said hi to Lennon, Laney, Ellis & Erik and headed to Crooked Pint Ale House to meet Michael's parents. Where we shared a apple cranberry flatbread, a 14oz yes FOURTEEN oz pretzel 🥨, cheese curds, and totchoes and of course a few much needed beers🍻. Food was good and the beer was better. After that we headed to Junkyard Brewery.. This is the Weiss family hangout in Moorhead, they LOVE this place, and I can completely understand why. They have a great variety of AMAZING beers.
They had just launched the Super Slurp.  It was a fruity sour, but not so fruity you can only have 1. It was well balanced. Next I had a lemongrass, it was light & fruity and SO delicious.
They also had a great vibe, the walls were covered in paintings of all the different beers they have had. They also have live music every night... that just brings a relaxed vibe and makes people happy!
After that it was to bed because Lennon’s birthday bash was next!

Day 2:
The day was here! We called Lennon that morning at 9, “are you coming to get me yet!?!”

We picked her up around 10:00 and headed to Bouncin Bash, where they had 20 HUGE blow up bouncy houses, slides, obstacle courses. Etc.... When we walked in it was the really big big stuff, Lennon looked at me said "These are scary.." so we continued to the 6 and under area, these were more her style, we started on the pirate ship, Mickey Mouse clubhouse, and continued though every one that was set up in the 6 and under area.  That went well, so we went back to the big area.  She was no longer scared, she was determined.. she went through almost every one they had in the big kid area too! She had no fear!! There was a rock wall one and all these kids were not waiting their turn, she didn’t like that so we skipped that one. Other then that Lennon went through every one she could. And she was so well behaved, she always waited tell the worker told her to go and for kids to get off the slide before she took her turn.
Next stop was lunch anywhere she wanted, she insisted on Noodles and Company.. so that it was! Man 'n cheese, applesauce and rice crispy bar! We still had time before it was nap time so we took advantage and went to Scheels to ride the 🎡 and look for “pretty pink dresses”.

We knew that we needed to get dessert so we stopped at Cherry Berry to get some froyo..

Lastly a nap, I’m not sure who was more tired Michael & I or Lennon?? Dang, those kids are exhausting but so worth it! So we all laid on the couch and napped, well Lennon was sawing logs so loud that ours wasn’t to long.
But Ellis woke up so we played downstairs with miss Laney. It’s funny how much Michael & Ellis are alike. The description “bull in a china shop” is used a lot for them (mostly Michael). Ellis is such a cutie, it’s so hard to see her go through the seizures that come with epilepsy. Laney is getting SO big and strong, it’s so fun to watch the 3 of them grow up. And crazy to think how big they will be when the wedding comes around.

Day 3:
Lennon really wanted doughnuts before Sunday school, so we woke up early (8am, not really early) and brought over Sandy’s Donuts.  They had a large variety of donuts, including my favorite maple bacon, Lennon's favorite glazed (or chocolate sprinkles depending on the day). They also had some crazy flavors like fruit loop, peanut butter an jelly, apple cinnamon. I love donuts, but seriously who doesn't?

The plan was to leave early, but it’s hard when your around family you don’t see that much, so we stuck around longer then normal and got lunch with Michael parents at Frank's Lounge. Food was okay, $5 Bloody Mary bar was perfection... they also had a logo of a pink cat, sooo that was almost as perfect as the bloody mary.

This blog could be strictly about Bloody Mary’s for how many we get in each weekend. But I like large roadside attractions (even though they have been lacking lately....)

Schreckenweiss take on Sioux falls, Again!

 Sioux Falls South Dakota!

I normally do not write about road trips that are for hockey,  But this was a little different.

Backstory: you know we both coach hockey.  On top of high school, I coach a 12u girls team as well.  We made it to regions for the first time! So we played in Luverne, but we stayed in Sioux Falls which is my old stomping ground!

We stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites by the Flying J truck stop, new hotel close to the interstate it was perfect.

Day 1:
We went and ate at Sickie’s Garage.  The food was pretty good.  A wide variety of burgers.  I had a peanut butter and jalapeño burger, Michael had the chili cheese fry burger.  We wanted to watch the wild game, then we remembered we were in Sioux Falls....so it wasn’t on, and the Wild lost 7-1. So, we were okay with not watching.

Day 2

After the game we headed to Tailgaters in Brandon. The owner is also a SMSU grad! Whoop whoop!  Then we went to Strawbale Winery, north of Sioux Falls in Renner. This place is so special to me, I worked here just over a year and the owners are fantastic. If you haven’t been I strongly recommend it. They recently started making ciders, so of course we had to get a growler to go!

Dinner was at RedRossa Pizza, we shared the pizza of the month, which was fantastic. It was the
Hot Honey Soppressata
Tomato Sauce, Red Pepper Flakes, Spicy Salami, Jalapeños, Smoked Mozzarella, Basil, Honey Drizzle

Then we went cosmic bowling with some of our favorite Sioux Falls friends!

Day 3

Breakfast: All Day Cafe
So Michael and I were friends for about 3 year’s before we started dating. During the 3rd year is when I moved to Sioux Falls.... the first time he came to visit was because he had hockey in Luverne, so he drove over that A.M. and we got a late breakfast at All Day Cafe... as friends right?!!? Lol when he paid the bill it kinda hit me like oh, okay this could be a thing. We didn’t start dating for awhile but our friendship elevated after this day. We kinda call it our first date before we were dating. It’s a special spot...

We both got eggs Benedict. I has the crab and he had bacon. Both has a red pepper hollandaise that were amazing 😍
